Marie Perez is an accomplished Director of Family Behavioral Health with a robust background in mental health and substance use counseling overseeing our MST-BSF, MST-PSB, and FBR programs here at BGV. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling both of which she obtained from The State University of New York at New Paltz. She also received her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credentials in 2017.
Marie began her time with BGV as a Program Manager for Multisystemic Therapy-Building Stronger Families (MST-BSF) in 2019. Marie has demonstrated her expertise in working with diverse populations, particularly in substance use and family dynamics. Her prior experience as a clinician includes roles in a day treatment center for substance use, a residential program for at-risk youth, a domestic violence shelter for women, and FBR where she worked with families at risk of losing their children due to substance use in their homes, where she developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities. Through her work in MST Marie has been trained in conducting and supervising PE and TF-CBT to address trauma and PTSD symptoms in adults and children.
As a Licensed Foster Care Provider, Marie is committed to supporting families and children in need. She combines her clinical skills with a compassionate approach, ensuring children receive the comprehensive support necessary for their well-being.
Outside of her professional life, Marie enjoys spending quality time with her family, which fuels her passion for her work and enhances her commitment to fostering healthy family relationships.
